The History of Our Church
It is extremely gratifying and joyful to note that St. Mary’s Orthodox Church of India,
Dallas had a great start and an intense momentum in its establishment and commendable
growth during the last decade. The dedication its members put forth is phenomenal.
Numerous individuals pointed out this parish and its worship services are especially unique
and conducive to a peaceful and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Above all, the peace and
serenity these members are experiencing is truly tremendous and is nothing short of a gift
from God.
St. Mary’s Orthodox Church of India, Dallas received approval as a parish from the
Diocesan Metropolitan from its beginning and Rev. Fr. John Kunnathusseril was appointed
as its vicar. We thank God for all the blessings which have been showered upon us. On July
5th 2007, the foundation stone for the church was laid by H.H. Baselius Marthoma
Didymus I, the Catholicose of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. With the support,
energy and prayers of all the members, the ground was broken in Oct 2008 and the
construction started soon after. The many phases of the construction process were a joy to
observe, and whatever number of hurdles and struggles the congregation faced, these trials
were made easy by the Hands of God.
The consecration and dedication of the church was conducted on Dec 4th 2009 by
eminent leadership of Diocesan Metropolitan, H.G Alexios Mar Eusebius along with H.G.
Dr. Yuhanon Mar Chrisostomos, the Metropolitan of the Niranam Diocese, and H.G.
Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, the Assistant Metropolitan of the Diocese of North-East
America.
Our parish’s spiritual organizations remain incredibly active in spreading God’s
message through service by extending our hands to those in need in and around the
community. Together, we are marching forward to an endless array of opportunity,
success, and growth.
